Instructional Design
Instructional Design is the art of creating and delivering educational content to a target group of learners. The vehicle for this content may be web-based, video, cd-rom, or print.
The process for instructional design generally includes separate phases: Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation, and Improvement. The length and complexity of these stages depends on the budget and time constraints of the particular project.
Although time, budget, and resources can be limiting factors, it is essential that learning objectives are created so that no matter what form the learning takes, the pedagogy is a sound one.
Many people are unfamiliar with the role an instructional designer can play in the development of training materials. The talents and skills of an instructional designer are required if any of the following are the desired end goals -- web-based training, instructional videotape, electronic or print manuals, materials for an instructor-led training, and animated tutorials.
